Fred J. and Pearl Scott met and married in Schuyler County, Illinois, where their ancestors were among the very first settlers. Establishing their home among countless relatives and friends, a decision was made to pursue Fred's vision to own his own farm. Packing up their family and possessions, they migrated to Barton County, Missouri. There they raised four sons and four daughters, labored to make a living, experienced the wonder of many new inventions, weathered two World Wars, and suffered through the long and difficult years of the Depression. Their dreams were shattered when economic conditions caused them to lose their farm. With the support of their children, they survived and eventually celebrated sixty years of marriage. Their legacy lives on.
